The club hosts a number of events throughout the year.
Primary Schools Cross Country League.
The club have organised a primary school cross country league for more than 50 years, with over 40 schools from Stockport, Manchester and further afield competing for individual and team honours. The league consists of five matches taking place on Saturday mornings from September to February with a relay event in March. Further details here.
During the Summer holidays, the club runs one week long fun athletics academies for 7 – 15 year olds, teaching running, throwing and jumping. Further details here.
First staged in 1943, this event hadn’t been held since 1952 until it’s resurrection in June 2014, in memory of David Coleman, an ex-athlete of the Club and winner in 1949. Further details here.
The Joe Moran veterans Track and Field Event.
Held annually since 2008, athletes over 35 compete in up to four track and field events. Further details here.
This is a free event for the clubs’s juniors and seniors, with the juniors running a 1 mile course and the seniors 3 miles. Each person is given a handicap calculated by the club’s coaches, so it’s unlikely the fastest runner will win. Everyone brings a prize to win a prize, and the person finishing first gets to pick first, etc.
Sports Personality of the Year.
Every December, the seniors vote for their male and female sports person of the year. It could be someone who has coached them, improved a lot, achieved something remarkable, or helped volunteering. Trophies are awarded to the winning man and woman.Further details are here.
This runs from January to December, with athletes having to have run at least 5 qualifying races over the year, with distances between 5k and a marathon. Further details are here
