For over 50 years Manchester Harriers & AC have organised a primary school cross country league with over 40 schools from Stockport, Manchester and further afield having competed for individual and team honours. The league consists of matches taking place on Saturday mornings from September to March in Wythenshawe Park.
2025/2026 Dates
There are six matches:
- Saturday 20th September 20245- Relays
- Saturday 4th October 2025
- Saturday 15th November 2025
- Saturday 17th January 2026
- Saturday 7th March 2026 – includes Awards presentation at 11:15
The first race of each match is at 10am.
The relays will consist of two races: one for girls, followed by the boys race. Four runners in each team: Two from years 3/4 and two from years 5/6. The younger runners run the first two legs.
There are four races at each other match – girls and boys in years 3/4 and 5/6. Each multiple of three is scored as a School team and there is no limit to the number of teams or individuals that can take part.
Pennants are awarded to the winning school team with certificates for the top 20 finishers in each race. There is a formal end of season presentation with trophies and medals for teams and individuals presented for the best performance over the course of the league. There are also spot prizes awarded at the final league match.
Manchester Harriers & AC want to encourage as many youngsters and schools to take part as possible and as such there is no charge to enter. However there will be a collection for charity should you wish to contribute.
