The club was founded in 1886 and was originally based in Fallowfield, Manchester.

The current membership is over 300 both male and female from age 7 upwards with no upper age limit and we compete in a number of leagues both for Track and Cross County.

We are based at Wythenshawe Park Athletic’s Track, Manchester, with some sections training at Sportcity Indoor arena, Manchester.  Training sessions and times are here.

On Saturday Mornings from September to March we organise a primary schools cross country league which has a large number of schools from both Stockport and Manchester competing for individual and team honours. We even have a school team from Oldham taking part.  Contact us if your school would like to take pary.  Even if your school doesn’t have a full team you will be most welcome.

We have several athletes who have in recent years won both county and youth games honours. In the past Manchester Athletes have competed in the Olympics games with Emil Voight winning a Gold medal in the London Olympics of 1908.

In the 1970’s Ricky Wilde won the 3000m European indoor title for Britain in a world indoor best time. This time is still ranked as the 8th fastest by a British athlete indoors.

We pride ourselves on being a friendly club with athletes of all abilities welcome. Even if you only want to keep fit and run with others of a similar ability you are welcome to join us.
