Youth Development League Match 1

successful day at Blackpool with some fabulous performances in the first meeting. A great team effort with some great results even in some some of the events that people weren’t that keen to do.

Thank you to Steve, George, Sarah, John, Carl, Laura for officiating and a special mention for Jess who did really well in her first meeting officiating field events after passing her level one officials course.
Thanks to the parents too, we do appreciate you bringing them and giving them such great support.
We finished fourth, and it was great to see so many boys competing.
Full results are here
The next match is 31st May in Bolton.

All this is flexible, but a guideline. You have time on Saturday afternoon to explore and do your own thing and all get together for a meal Saturday if you wish.
We have booked some great accommodation see below, if we exceed numbers we have some extra sofa beds in each appartment so don’t worry about missing out or even bringing the youngsters as if we fill these the room rate it even less!!!!

Under 13 Girls Triumph at the National Cross Country Championships

2014-03-03_5

Manchester Harriers under 13s Girls ran fantastically well at the National Cross Country Championships at Wollaton Park Nottingham on Saturday securing second place overall.

The team consisted of Eleanor Kenny, Emily Hughes, Grace De Campos and Alice Stiles. This is a truly fantastic achievement by the girls who were racing against a strong field and represents Harriers first national team medal for many years. This follows on from their second place in the Northern Championships in very testing conditions at Knowsley in January.

The team have enjoyed a great season and all four girls have been picked to represent Greater Manchester in the Inter Counties Championships in Birmingham in early March. The girls and their coach Carl Summers deserve great credit having trained and raced hard in what have been tough conditions throughout the season.

It was a strong performance overall for the junior section at the Nationals with large, high quality fields competing in all age groups. In the under 15 girls Beth Barlow ran strongly to finish 42nd which bodes well for next year when she is at the top of the age group. In the Boys section, Connor Fazakerley ran well to finish 60th in the under 13s. In the under 15s Sam Tarry returned to form finishing 37th, with Donnacha Maguire finishing 68th in the under 17s, a good run in his first year in the age group.

Well done to all those who represented the club at the weekend.
