First Primary Schools Cross Country Event at Wythenshawe Park

The Primary Schools Cross Country League has moved to Wythenshawe Park for the reminder of the season. It was muddy but the children enjoyed it,

The League is still free to all schools. We’ve been running the League for more than 40 years with about 350 runners enjoying each meeting. Schools receive results by email after each meeting and full results at the end of the Season

VICTORY FOR THE UNDER 13 GIRLS AT THE NORTHERN CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Manchester Harriers Under 13 girls secured a stunning team victory at the North of England Cross Country Championships at Pontefract on Saturday.

The team consisting of Alice Stiles, Grace de Campos, Beth Smyth and Georgia Fazakerley coped brilliantly with the tough windy conditions to secure a comfortable victory ahead of Sale Harriers who were second with Liverpool Harriers third. All four girls finished in the top twenty individually with Alice 6th, Beth 11th, Grace 15th and Georgia 16th. The result represents Manchester Harriers first victory in the Northern Championships at any age group since the mid 1980s.

The under 13 girls have had an unforgettable season so far, with the victory in the Northern Championships adding to their recent success in the Greater Manchester Championships together with 2nd place in the North West Road Relays and 3rd place in the Northern Cross Country Relays. In addition Alice, Grace and Georgia have all been picked to represent Greater Manchester in the Inter Counties Championships in March.

The girls have a tremendous work ethic and a wonderful team spirit which is a credit to themselves and their coach Carl Summers.

Let’s hope that they can continue this form for the rest of the season.

MHAC Annual Dinner including Senior T&F Awards – 6th Feb

We have been  forced to cancel the annual dinner due to a combination of factors:- low  numbers (only 19 responses by the time of the last committee meeting) and last minute problems with the venue.
We do not wish to lose this annual event which brings together our club members and at the same time helps us to celebrate the success of so many of our athletes.
We will seek out an alternative venue, maybe a restaurant with a private room which could cater for 40-60 and where we could have some background music and possibly with a small dance floor.
Please give some thought to a suitable venue and let the committee have your ideas.
We would like the awards night to take place March/April.
